A leafy sea dragon at the Waikiki Aquarium.

Lives in kelp forests in waters in Southern Australia.

The leafy sea dragon looks like the kelp it lives in. It is green, orange and gold with leaf-like appendages.

The male sea dragon carries as many as 150-200 eggs. Eggs are deposited by the female and hatch after about 8 weeks.

Sea dragons do not have any teeth or stomach and they eat small shrimp.

Sea dragons have been protected by the South Australian government since 1982.
